Overview
Can you imagine how much fun it would be to challenge your professionals to form into teams and build a fully functioning Catapult?
- In this exciting team building event, small teams will attempt to mechanically assemble a functional working Catapult that will launch a fragile object (protected by a special casing the teams build) thirty feet towards a target. (The object must not break too!)
Expect full team engagement on this team challenge. Team Catapults is fast-paced, as each team needs to communicate, collaborate, and innovate under a time pressure to make sense of all the Catapult building components, and solve issues of design, propulsion, aerodynamics, and trajectory to successfully hit the target with their fragile object.
When each team’s uniquely designed Catapult is ready, the teams will line it up and fire it at the target area. As you can imagine, results will vary widely! And expect teams to have a lot to say about each other’s Catapult designs and their launch results! But each result will be measured, and tallied, and the winning teams declared.
Will your professionals hit the target, or be WAY, WAY off the mark? Great fun as a stand-alone team building activity, or blended into other agenda activities.

- Can be conducted as a stand-alone event for 60 – 90 minutes
- Can be used as a “closer” / “finale event” for programs like Building Teamwork & Collaboration or a Team Building Retreat
- Can run the Catapult build cycle twice by structuring the competition in two rounds. Between rounds, themes like “continuous improvement” and “improving team dynamics” could be explored.
